"The biggest blessing in my life is my son. Shortly after he was born, I fell pregnant again and I was blessed with another son. My life was complete.
In week 13, I went to the hospital for a regular ultrasound only to find out that my child inside of me was so sick that the doctors could not even believe that he was still alive. They said that he would die within the week, so I made the decision there and then to have an abortion.
Instead of waiting for him to die, I had to let him go. Every day I think of him, and the pain of that loss will live with me forever.
In all of this, I am still blessed to live in Sweden where we do have a choice and abortion has been legal for many decades. This experience made me dedicate my life to help women in Malta who do not have the same choice as we do in Scandinavia.
An abortion, what ever the reason, is always a woman's right since it it her body. The church might not change its mind, the law might take some time to change, but what we can change is how we see each other. Do not dare to judge a person because you have no idea the story behind.
To all the brave women out there who have had an abortion, I send you my deepest compassion. May you never be broken by society."
